SAT i.e. Scholastic Aptitude Test is a standardize assessment test conducted by college board, USA. for doing undergraduate courses. The exam is designed to test the reading, writing and mathematical skill of a student.

SAT exam contain 9 sections including essay.  SAT exam measures student’s skills in two core areas namely Math and reading + writing.

There are 3 main sections in SAT test: Math, Evidence based reading and evidence based writing. There is also an optional 50-minutes essay and this makes total test time to 3 hours 50 minutes.

    1. Evidence based reading:

This is 65-minutes section with 52 standard multiple-choice questions. There are short and long reading passages in this section and sentence completion questions are asked. The passages are mainly based on personal narrative experiences, humanities or physical sciences.

    2. Evidence based writing:

The fundamental approach of this section is to test student’s command over grammar. It also tests student’s approach towards particular subject and how sensibly they perform logical arrangements of ideas. This is 35 minutes section.

          3. Math:

This is 80 minute section. Questions are asked on topic including heart of algebra, problem solving & data analysis, passport to advanced math, additional topics (geometry, trigonometry and pre-calculus).

·         First is 25 minutes section with 20 multiple choice questions. This is no-calculator section.

·         Another section is a 55 minutes section in which use of calculator is optional.

         4. Optional Essay section:

This is an optional 50 minutes section.
